When guards and barriers are used to provide secure fencing for machinery these guards and barriers should be designed so that people cannot reach over, around or through them and come into contact with the prime movers, transmissions and other dangerous parts of machinery. Reach is limited by the length or arms and in the case of openings, by the length of fingers and hands.
Less often, hazards may be reached by lower limbs. The distance a person can reach determines the minimum height of certain kinds of guards, or the minimum distance of barriers from the machines they are intended to fence. Design criteria are based on the physical dimensions and reach capabilities of humans. There will be some people, such as the very tall or very slender, whose physical dimensions are such that they will not be fully protected by the standard measurements outlined. These people will be better isolated from hazards by the more restricted measurements for designing guards and barriers, we at EMPEE design every product which is guarantee safe, sturdy and best in the quality and design.
